Batavus Fryslan

We like talking about, posting about, and most importantly riding high performance racing bikes, but not exclusively. Sometimes it's nice to just kick back and cruise around, and that's exactly where the Batavus Fryslan comes in - it cruises around in unequaled fashion.

With unique features like an internally geared 5 speed hub, full pin-striped chain guard, integrated wheel lock, drum brakes, brazed on pump peg and matching frame pump, and old school look headlamp that uses new school LED this bike is a real head turner.

What could be better? How about a really early spring and a sale price? The Fryslan regular price is $1050, but it's on sale for just $850. We can't take credit for the nice weather, but enjoy it just the same!

This bike deserves a few close ups, so check them out after the jump:

Cannondale 29er S.S.

We thought this was an awesome deal at its regular price, but we've got one size large left and have reduced it to the point where we don't even have an adjective to describe it.

At just $650 (reg $900) this 2010 Cannondale 29er single speed should move fast, which is appropriate because it's a pretty fast moving bike.  A top notch aluminum frame and rigid, lightweight aluminum fork and a dedicated single speed set up that uses a minimalist dropout in the rear with an eccentric bottom bracket to tension the chain all combines to make a bike that moves quickly. The fairly aggressive geometry doesn't hurt either.

We also don't mind that this bike really, really looks nice.  It has elegant lines and a simple paint scheme with well-suited decals. Truthfully, the bike looks and rides like it costs double its regular price, let alone the amazing $650 it's been discounted too.  If you're between about 5'10" to 6'2" or so and you want a simple, no compromise cross country riding or racing machine you seriously need to check this out.

Up to 50% off bike sale

We mentioned recently the up to 50% off bike sale going on in our shop right now, and we weren't kidding. Below is an up to date list (at the time of this posting anyway) of the bikes we currently have on a super sale in the shop.  Please keep in mind that these prices apply to in stock bikes only - once they're gone, they're gone.

If your eyes aren't what they used to be click here for a slightly larger pic, or come down to the shop where the price tags are big, but the prices aren't.  Wow, that sounded corny.

Trek Bikes 30% off!

All IN STOCK Trek bikes are now 30% off their regular price! We don't want to give away the entire bike shop business model but it's probably okay to let you know that there isn't really that much mark up on bikes, so 30% off is a pretty big deal!

Of course when the in-stock Trek's are gone, they're gone, so check 'em out today!

Ski Package Pricing

We got the cross country skis, boots, bindings, poles and accessories all sorted and out on display a week or so ago and now we have the package prices posted around the shop. For your convenience they're also posted below. If you don't see a package that works for you we are of course happy to put something together just for you.

Cdale Comfort and Adventure frame blowout

Here's an interesting deal:  The story is that Cannondale had some extra 'warranty' Comfort and Adventure model hybrid bike frames kicking around because fewer warranty claims were made than anticipated (that's probably a good thing) so they offered us the frames at a blowout rate, and we're passing the deal on to you by selling them for just $100 per frame.

That means if you have some parts kicking around your basement or garage that are looking for a frame, or want to build up a custom hybrid by hand-selecting parts from the shop, you can start with a great frame deal.

We have Comforts in s, m, l, and xl, and we have the Adventures in m and l.  The Comforts fit 26 inch wheels, while the Adventures are for 700c's.  Both frames are rim brake only and have standard 1 1/8th inch headtubes.  Come and check them out in person if you want more details, and start digging through those Rubbermaid bins at home to see what parts you have just waiting to be built up.

Fall Bike Sale!

Don't worry, there's still plenty of summer left, but it's getting to the time of season where we want to make sure our stock moves so we can make room for new stuff (some of the 2012 orders are already being placed!).  It's been a great year for bike sales and more importantly for bike riding, but as always we're discounting the bike stragglers that are still kicking around, so take advantage of the discounts now while there's still plenty of summer riding left!

All current 2011 bikes are 10% off

Remaining 2010 bikes are discounted even further, as follows:
(sizes are limited, and when they're gone, they're gone - call 888.4586 or visit us for more details)

Custom C'dale 29er 5

Used bikes being sold by our staff tend be great deals, and this one is no exception.  It's built up with Stan Arch rims, Revolution spokes, White Industries hubs, BB7 brakes, a Thomson post, and more, including a brand new drive train.

If you're an average sized male or taller than average gal looking for a rigid 29er single speed this Cannondale could be just the ticket, and at just $850 it's an unbeatable deal.  As with all of our used bikes when it's gone it's gone.

2010 Marin Cortina

We just received a 2010 Marin Cortina 'cross bike and expect a couple more to arrive soon. Why are we receiving 2010's in 2011? Because we got a great deal from the distributor and we're passing the savings on to you. Okay, that sounds cheesy, but it's true.

The Sram Rival and Force equipped Cortina, which uses a triple butted aluminum frame and full carbon fork also comes spec'd with Mavic Aksium wheels, FSA SL-K monocoque carbon crankset with MegaExo BB setup and lots of other great bits, is regularly priced at $2500, but we're asking just $1950.

With all the money you save on this purchase you can afford to buy yourself a really nice cowbell. Don't get the reference? Come to a 'cross race.

Giant Brass

If you're looking for a beefy frame and wheelset matched with competent components to withstand the rigors of riding the local bike parks and urban jungle, the Giant Brass is a great choice. It's an even better choice now that our final 2010 model is marked down from $530 to just $450.

2010 Scalpel on sale

Speaking of Scalpels (see the video in the posting below) we happen to have a 2010 Scalpel Carbon 2 on sale for $4680, down from $5200. It's still a heck of a lot of coin, but it's also a heck of a lot of bike.

Remember that whether you're interested in a top of the line ride like the Scalpel or on entry level bike like the $340 Giant Revel, we've got you covered.

2010 Giant Yukon on sale

We still have a few 2010 (and earlier) bike models in stock, even as the 2011's are flying off the showroom floor, so if you're a deal hunter come and check out what's left today, including this Giant Yukon on sale for just $570, down from the regular price of $700.

That buys you a sold aluminum frame with mechanical disc brakes and front suspension with lockout. Not bad at all, but as with all of our remaining last year's models when they're gone they're gone.

New '09 Cannondale F3

We like, and ride, many different types of bikes, but most of us here at the shop have a real soft spot for the humble hardtail mountain bike. In Manitoba you can almost always get by without dual suspension (not that we're saying it's bad to have a rear shock) and the light weight, efficiency, and low maintenance of a hardtail is all very appealing, not to mention that they're relatively inexpensive.

Take the Cannondale F3 for example: Spec'd with a competent mix of Deore and X7 components, all attached to the superb Caffeine frame and Super Fatty DLR HeadShok, this is a bike that you can feel good about racing in local events or for using as a high end commuter and fitness bike, or to simply carve up the trails in solitude. Extra quality bits like Juicy 3 hydraulic discs, DT Swiss spokes, and more don't hurt either.

Spec sheets aside, this bike has a really nice ride. It's fast, cuts switchbacks easily, and ascends with great efficiency, and it looks great to boot. Even the regular price of $1600 is a great deal, but we happen to have a new, '09 model in stock that's discounted to just $1250. That's an amazing deal.
