Bike Feature: C'dale 29er 2

Conventional 26 inch wheeled mountain bikes are still the norm, and they're still outselling other models by a wide margin, but the 29er movement has definitely established itself as legitimate and we're consistently stocking and selling a good number of large diameter mountain bikes these days. As the product continues to sell, more manufacturers are jumping on board and designing bike models and accessories to satisfy 29er enthusiasts. Cannondale is just one example of a well known, top end bike maker that has fully embraced the 29er movement.

Pictured above is the C'dale's 29er 2. Yup, it's a simple name, and frankly it's a pretty simple bike too - we mean that in a good way. At the core of the bike is C'dale's ever popular and reliable all aluminum Caffeine hardtail frame with slightly adjusted geometry to fit the larger wheels. It's stiff and lightweight but still has a reasonably compliant rear end. It's mated to what is becoming the ubiquitous Lefty front suspension (at least on C'dale's higher end bikes) which helps keep the bike light and very laterally stiff.

The bike is spec'd with mid-range components to keep the cost down without sacrificing much performance. While Sram X-7 and Avid Juicy 3 discs aren't top of the line they still work very well and can be ridden with pride on any local trails or races. All in all this is a very good package at a reasonable price. We have one size medium in stock now on sale now for just $1660, down from $1950.
